You’ll want to book the car rentals 3 months in advance. We booked ours only 2 months in advance. It was enough time for our 5 car rentals, but your group may need more cars. If you can, book the cars 2-3 months early just to be sure you can reserve the quantity and sizes of cars required by your group.

We went with Dooley Car Rentals, an Irish car rental company that had great reviews. They were a pleasure to work with, and I was able to get a quote and book our reservation by phone with their local office in Boston.

We were surprised at how many guests preferred to travel together as a group and had to stretch our budget for 2 vans more than we originally thought were needed. Such is life!

If I could do it all over, I would not have offered to pay for group vans, and only selectively pay for transportation for those who needed the help. Our friends and family could have grouped together to rent their own cars or vans, without any financial hardship. Think about it:  An $833 van for 7 people is only $118 each, for a full week!

It could have saved us over $4000. But again, such is life!
